Students speak up on campus diversity

Drury attempts to increase minority inclusion and raise awareness

Today many college campuses across the United States exert every effort to increase the racial and ethnic diversity of their student bodies. Oftentimes, phrases such as "diversity" and "inclusiveness" can be found in the strategic planning goals of many universities, but with diversity being such an ambiguous concept, it can be challenging to clearly define, plan, and execute efforts that not only increase diversity in the physical sense, but that advance intellectual and ethical development as well. Pam Witte will be showing off her knitted monsters exhibit at the Pool Art Center this Friday What is it that you do? I like to think of it as knitted artwork, or fabric self-expression. They're little monsters made out of yarn. I do boy monsters, girl monsters, zombies, squids, and other types. Full story

Hallo from Schorndorf, Germany

Hello (or perhaps I should say "hallo") from Germany! Anyone who knows me knows that I am passionate about all things German. Therefore, it is no surprise that I chose to spend the next seven months living, learning, and working in southwest Germany.

Drury adds animal studies minor

Studying animals goes beyond deciding whether or not to have one for dinner. The new minor being offered at Drury intends to address further questions. According to Dr. McEachern, Drury's Dorothy Jo Barker Endowed Professor of Animal Rights and Director of the University Forum on animal rights, "we delight in (the companionship of animals), dine, ride, watch, hunt, and empathize with them, wear them, entertain ourselves with them, and even eulogize them.

Not an average part-time college-student job

If you meet Brianna Cline, you will notice that she is a joyful person. You can hear it in her laughter. Cline is a sophomore at Drury studying biology and chemistry, along with Spanish and global studies. In her spare time, she likes to hang out with friends and get involved with orchestra (she plays the violin).

Super (Bowl) spectacle

Sunday, February 5. A Sunday like all other Sundays, except one thing: there is a really big, nationally-televised football game being played. Super Bowl XLVI (That's 46, if your Roman numeral counting is rusty) begins at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday on NBC. The game features the New York Giants and New England Patriots, and will be played at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.

VisCom Club increases membership

The Drury Visual Communication Club is making a comeback this year and starting to establish a more visible presence on campus. The Visual Communications program was created in 1990 as a part of the Studio Art major. Today, the program is offered to students within any major who are interest in visual communications as a part of their future career.
