Minority scholarship program sends off first graduating class

Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams” and there are none who represent this in a better way than the 2012 graduating class of Edward Jones Scholars. This scholarship, designed to bring opportunity to minority students, will see its first class graduating after four successful years at Drury. Full story

Is this university actually going to pay for students’ participation? As Mindy Maddux said in last week’s article, the Panther Passport Program “is a way for students to earn money for participating in things that most of them are already attending anyway.

Drury develops wellness program

 Drury’s campus is about to get a whole lot healthier. In addition to going green and maintaining a clean and stable environment, Drury has adopted a wellness program to give its students happier, healthier, and safer lives. Starting in the fall of 2012, freshmen at Drury have the chance to receive a degree certificate in wellness upon graduation, after completion of the four-year program.

A sports year in rewind

As the school year comes to a close, it is time to take a look back on the accomplishments and feats of each sports program this year: Soccer Youth was the theme for both the men’s and women’s programs, as both teams boasted 21 and 14 underclassmen, respectively.

For many college students, hearing the sound of an alarm clock early in the morning is not something one looks forward to.

The prerequisite to a career

Ask Tina Moore about the best ways for Drury students to prepare for a job, and she’ll point to one thing: internships. “An internship is so important because, in this competitive economy, employers are seeking the best qualified applicants with relevant experience,” the associate director of Drury’s Career Center says.

Meet the new architecture director

Drury has hired a new architecture director, Maurizio Sabini, to take over for Michael Buono who is stepping down from his administrative role in the Hammons School of Architecture to return to full-time teaching. Sabini comes to the position with extensive international working experience and a succesful academic career.
