A letter to the editor

Abstract:
Each and Every year more people get in trouble for hazing of any sort. There are strict rules that govern what upperclassmen can have their new members do.

Over the years National chapters of every student organization have put forth rules that outline exactly what and what is not ethical....

Were you at the supposed event? I see that you are getting your exercise by "jumping to conclusions" without any evidence. You line up well with the Al Sharpton's of the world who crucified the Duke Lacross team members as well. People are innocent in this country until proven guilty. You might want to take a class in Civics 101.

Organizations have always had a rich history of bringing in new members in a certain way. This is how society works as a whole, when a person enters a job they do not start at the top, their is a hierarchy that they have to work through in every profession. Would a new worker at a company complain about doing extra duties or would they do them so that they too may one day be at the top? I am not saying anyone should be made to do something they do not want to, but if any individuals feel they are being treated unfairly then that INDIVIDUAL should be the one to say something or not be a part of the organization, not someone outside trying to look in.

I would like to know along with "Realman" were you at this event?

Silence Dogood "Everyone knows that there is one organization that hazes every year and continually gets away with it, because of their success it seems like those in higher positions on the totem pole look the other way."

REALITY CHECK...that is life. You will not have the hand of Drury protecting you throughout life. There is a real world outside of the small campus we are surrounded by. Silence Dogood when you graduate from Drury University and get into the working world you will be in for a big wake up call. There will be many times throughout your life when members higher on the "totem pole" choose to look away. Will this offend you? If so I suggest you stop wearing your feelings on your sleeve, life is tough.

If these so called organizations are making members run around at all hours of the night and going commando, then hats off to them. They have the desire to be apart of that specific organization, so let them. Deep down isn't that what Drury is all about?

Silence Dogood you said it makes you sick? Does this sort of thing really make you sick? How about the war in Iraq? The massive consumption of energy and resources? Terrorism? Unemployment? These are issues that are truly important to most humans, something so small at Drury University really shouldn't make you "sick." And I guess if this small issue makes you so sick, sick enough to write about then you aren't getting your moneys worth at Drury. Until you do stop complaining about your allegations on "hazing" and find something important to ramble about.
