What is the plan for alternative spring break?

Eighteen students and four staff members are preparing for a productive spring break. Two groups are going out of state—one group to Orlando, FL, and one to Raleigh, NC—to spend spring break helping non-profit organizations and serving the local communities.

Artist Amanda Small shows ceramic works

  Amanda Small is a ceramics/installation artist. She received a Master of Fine Arts in Ceramic Arts from Kansas State University in 2009. She uses mixed materials to explore concepts such as sacred geometry, radials, lattice patterns and collective identity.

A Feminist View

  Recently the French legally announced "mademoiselle" banished from official forms and registries. Similar to America, most legal documents required French females to indicate whether they were married or single based off of their title. This was declared unethical since males have always been referred to as monsieur, independent from their marital status.

The tornado that ripped through Joplin last May left students with uncertainty about their school. The people of Joplin have faced difficult time since the storm passed through. Now months later, these Joplin high school students are planning their prom, and some will not have the money to spend on a prom dress.

Why can't I make streusel? It seemed like a relatively simple blend of flour, butter, and sugar. But I ended up with something that was not terribly "streusel-like". I suppose that I could have taken my "less than streusel-like" substance, thrown it in the trash, and started from scratch.

Is student dress too casual?

Justin Johnson, a junior majoring in chemistry, has a rule that he follows when it comes to getting dressed for class each day: "I like to dress as if I were going to get stuck presenting something that day, just in case, because you never know." Johnson feels that the way he dresses for class can have a big impact on his confidence level and even on his academic performance.
