Regardless of the social media site, you're bound to run across a link or reference to Pinterest. Wait, what? Pinterest?

Pinterest is a newly launched website, also known as an online bulletin board. Users can save photos from anywhere on the Internet to their boards, which can be organized to their heart's desires.

Here is some of the lingo you need to know before using Pinterest:

Pin: An image saved to your Pinterest board – it could be of anything you fancy. After registering your account, you'll be prompted to download the "Pin It" button to your Favorites bar; making pinning as simple as one click, regardless of the site you're on.

Repin: It's the same concept as re-tweeting on Twitter. Like a pin you see? Simply click "repin" and it will give you the option to save it to one of your boards, which are visible to anyone who follows you.

Board: Your inspiration galore. It's the online, 21st century version of those brown bulletin boards you had as a child where you would cut out and save all sorts of images from magazines, books and photo albums. You can create as many boards as you like, and organize them by subject, color, or whatever other filing style suits you.

The social aspect of this site is that anyone can follow you and you can follow any other users, creating a constant stream of inspirational images on your Pinterest home page. It's addicting, I promise you.

I personally pin, save, share and re-pin everything – from recipes I'd like to try to the wardrobe I must possess at some point in my life. Oh, and I may just have an entire board dedicated to Blair Waldorf. If you don't know who that is, you must live under a rock (FYI, it's a character off Gossip Girl).

Note though, at this time Pinterest is accessible via invite only. You can request an invite, putting you on the waiting list. Or you can also email me, ybosovik@drury.edu, for an invite. Then make sure to follow my boards for your own dose of inspiration.

Go forth and pin my friend.
