Don't panic. You will be all right. This is what I repeated in my head as I boarded the plane the week after finals last summer. I was on my way to Washington's Reagan National Airport, and I was beginning to remember I have a fear of flying. It's not a paralyzing fear, but it was in combination with the fact that it was beginning to hit me that I was about to move halfway across the country for two months, to a city where I knew no one.
The Moxie, Springfield's first independent film theater, will have its grand opening Sept. 21. The theater at 408 W. Walnut St. will offer more than just movies. With a monthly rotating art gallery featuring different local artists as well as someone introducing each film and an intermission, the experience will be made complete with the Cinebar.
Walking down South Street at night, the blossoming downtown atmosphere is electric: bands, coffee shops, art galleries, restaurants, and unique shops, all with a constant flow of people. And now there is something new on the Springfield scene: a hot dog vendor.
