"DU Uncut" makes premiere on area television network

With the decision by KYTV to add "DU Uncut" to its television schedule, Drury's Integrated Media majors are getting an opportunity to experience the real world of studio production. DU Uncut is a music program which originated in Drury's studio production class last spring as a way for students to learn how to shoot and produce in a studio setting.

You might have heard his distinct laugh on a television commercial. Maybe you have seen a close up of his face with swirling motorized fireworks on a billboard. Who is this mystery man? He is the popular entertainer and comedian Yakov Smirnoff. This Branson staple is also an academic and adjunct professor who is bringing his philosophy on life to campus in the form of a mini-course called "Living Happily Ever Laughter.

SIFE team travels to teach business, life skills to students in Laredo, Tex.

Not everyone over break was kicking back and taking it easy. The Drury Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) team traveled to Laredo, Tex. to teach basic business skills to middle school children. For ten years the team has traveled to Laredo to teach the sixth graders at Anthony Gonzales Middle School the principles of entrepreneurship, business ethics, marketing, advertising and budgeting.

Free daily newspapers return to campus

SGA renews program, adding a new paper and additional stands

Those newspaper stands which have been empty since Thanksgiving Break are once again being filled up around campus. After the four-week assessment of the Collegiate Readership Program (CRP) last semester, the Student Government Association (SGA) deemed the program successful and entered a semester long contract with CRP, dubbing Drury's CRP program "Drury University Paw Prints.

Meal mentor program proves valuable for all

Every Monday at 5 p.m., the kids of the Boys and Girls Club begin to get excited because it's time for Mealtime Buddies. Mealtime Buddies is a program run by the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America that brings college-age volunteers into Boys and Girls Clubs to hang out and eat with the kids.

Summit Park residents spend time volunteering at assisted living center

Olin Library will be receiving a new kind of archive by the end of this school year, courtesy of a group of students living in Drury's Summit Park Leadership Community. "We are videotaping the residents of Joy Assisted Living about growing up in the Great Depression, their experiences with the wars and their life stories," said participating student Jessica Lacy.
