The scene played out in living rooms around Havana: a fond memory for the good early days of the revolution, followed by a pointed stab at today's bitter realities. There was praise for the revolution's accomplishments and skepticism about whether Raul Castro, elected by the legislature as the country's new president, can ever make life better.

Money market investments likely safe despite economic turmoil

You may think you have nothing to do with the debt crisis tied to foreclosures and the deteriorating housing market. But many investors actually have a piece of that ugly situation tucked into their money market mutual funds. Many money funds put cash into investments tied to the mortgage crisis and subprime debt, just like Florida's state-run investment pool that recently experienced a run on its funds.
