City Council to vote on substation

Police officers could be on campus by the end of September

The Springfield Police Department could have a new home on Drury University's campus this fall. Depending on the Springfield City Council's decision on September 15, the university could welcome two police officers and a SPD substation as permanent fixtures on campus.

Almost four months ago, on May 12, a disastrous earthquake hit the Sichuan Province in Western China. The quake registered a 8.0 on the Richter scale hit and devastated much of the mountainous region. Reports from June 13, said the earthquake claimed more than 68,000 lives, injured close to 375,000 and left over 17,000 still missing.

Class gets a technology face lift

Three Pearson's classroom's get technology improvements

Summer break proved productive for classroom upgrades in Burnham and Pearson Halls. While students were away, technology services worked on equipping five classrooms with new technology for course activities. Of these classrooms, three were completed in Pearson Hall (rooms: 22, 116, and 318), while two in Burnham (rooms 303 and 307) remain "in progress.

New features hope to make Library new hot spot

The first floor of the library is currently missing bookshelves, but plans are underway to remodel part of the floor to create a social and collaborative learning commons. Director of Library and Information Services, Dr. Stephen Stoan presented the idea for the learning commons at the faculty workshop in August.

Drury's Sorority recruitment welcomes 88 new members

Changes in Drury's Sorority's formal recruitment appear to have made a difference. The four Panhellenic sororities on campus - including Delta Delta Delta, Kappa Delta, Pi Beta Phi and Zeta Tau Alpha - welcomed approximately 88 new sorority members last Saturday during the women's Bid Day activities.

Graduate student's painting and sculpture exhibit in Olin

Artist Santiago Jim Delgadillo, a graduate student at Drury in the college of education and new studio art and theory masters program, is exhibiting his work in the Olin Room of Olin Library from now until October. An artist's reception will be held on Thurs.

Animal rights discussion at Gene Baur's convocation

Animal rights champion Gene Baur will present "Farm Sanctuary: Changing Hearts and Minds about Animals and Food" at 11 a.m. on Thurs., Sept. 11, in Clara Thompson Hall. New exhibits at the PAC

From now until Sept. 26 the Pool Art Center Gallery will feature the work of Larry Kolden, who spent the past summer teaching in the master of studio arts & theory program at Drury University. Larry Kolden received his bachelor of arts and master of fine arts from the University of Wisconsin - Madison.
