ICYIZERE: hope brings awareness

Mureithi's documentary shows benefits of reconciliation workshops

Patrick Mureithi, Kenyan filmmaker and Artist in Residence with the Communication Department, showed a portion of his documentary "ICYIZERE: hope" last week as part of Drury's convocation series. The documentary is about the gathering of ten perpetrators and ten survivors of the 1994 Rwandan genocide in an effort for reconciliation during a three-day workshop.

Admission's Discover Drury Day

Soccer tournament used to promote campus

Last weekend for Discover Drury Day, the Office of Admission focused on using engaging activities for prospective students and a soccer tournament to showcase Drury with an active campus life. Breanna Michel, admission event coordinator, said that there would be 116 prospective students attending Discover Drury Day, which is up from last year's 75 attendees.

On Monday, the Second Year Experience (SYE) held its first peer advising session to help sophomore students determine their schedules for next year. Greta Brown, vice president of SGA's Academic Affairs Committee, explained that Student Government is working in conjunction with the SYE on the peer advising initiative.

Comic Sherman Alexie an irreverent perspective

Sherman Alexie, an author, comedian, poet and artist will present Without Reservations: An Urban Indian Comic's Poetic and Highly Irreverent Look at the World on Thursday, Nov. 12, at 11 a.m., in Clara Thompson Hall. Puttin' on the Lips slated for next week

Come join this annual Drury tradition on November 18 at 8:15 p.m. in Clara Thompson Hall, sponsored by the sisters of Pi Beta Phi. Puttin' on the Lips is a lip-syncing dance competition open to everyone on campus. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place worth over $100.

Veterans Day celebration slated for today

Drury University will host a Veterans Day celebration on campus today at 11 a.m. in Weiser Gym. The celebration includes a flag performance by the Ozark High School Color Guard, the Drury Singers, and a trumpet performance of the national anthem by Dean of Students Dr.

Photographer Bruce Davidson to speak on Thursday

Internationally recognized photographer Bruce Davidson will speak at Drury University as part of the Canon Explorers of Light Program on Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. in Lay Hall. This event is free and open to the public. Bruce Davidson, an American photographer, is one of the most recognized photographers in the world.
