Childcare provider is a title I never thought I would wear. I am not your typical kid person and up until my current position I had never even babysat. But now I find myself living with a German family I only saw a few pictures of and talked with on the phone twice before moving half-way across the world for which to care.
When someone mentions the country of Germany, what first comes to your mind? Maybe you think of Bavaria, good German beer, the Berlin Wall, the U.S. military base, or maybe Germany means home to you. When I think of Germany, a white, sandy beach is definitely not what first comes to mind-at least it did not until this past weekend.
It's rained all morning. The overcast sky lowers down on us as we retreat into the metro station. Our umbrellas, our jackets, and the bottom of our pants drip onto the concrete floor. The station is warm, too warm some say. We sit and we wait, not long, for the next train to pull in.
